Install
Put Chalmsy in your dock.
Chalmsy runs in any modern browser — there is nothing you have to install. But if you would rather it behaved like a proper application, with its own icon, its own window and no address bar in the way, it installs in about ten seconds. The butler settles in wherever you work.
Open it first, then follow the steps for your device below.
Windows
Chrome or Edge
- Open app.chalmsy.com and sign in.
- Look at the right-hand end of the address bar for the install icon — a small monitor with a downward arrow.
- Click it and choose Install. No icon there? Open the ⋯ menu → Cast, save and share → Install page as app.
- Chalmsy now has a Start-menu entry and opens in its own window. Right-click the taskbar icon and Pin to taskbar.
Mac
Safari 17+, or Chrome / Edge
- Open app.chalmsy.com and sign in.
- Safari: menu bar → File → Add to Dock…, then confirm the name.
- Chrome or Edge: click the install icon in the address bar, or the ⋮ menu → Cast, save and share → Install page as app.
- It appears in Launchpad and stays in the Dock like any other application.
iPhone & iPad
Safari — required on iOS
- Open app.chalmsy.com in Safari. On iOS only Safari can install web apps — Chrome and Firefox cannot.
- Tap the Share button — the square with an arrow pointing up.
- Scroll down and tap Add to Home Screen.
- Tap Add. Chalmsy sits on your home screen and opens full-screen, without Safari's chrome.
Android
Chrome
- Open app.chalmsy.com in Chrome and sign in.
- Tap the ⋮ menu, top right.
- Tap Install app — sometimes shown as Add to Home screen.
- Confirm. It behaves like any installed app, including in the app switcher.
Worth doing
What installing changes.
Its own window
No address bar, no tab strip, no tab lost among forty others — and no closing the whole thing with Ctrl+W while you hunt for it.
Faster to reopen
The interface is kept on the device, so it opens quickly the next time — between a client call and a site visit, without waiting for a page to load.
Survives a bad signal
The app still loads on a weak connection. Anything that needs the server waits and tells you plainly, rather than failing quietly on you.
If it goes wrong
Common snags.
What if there's no install icon in my address bar?
Two usual causes. Either the browser doesn't support installing — Firefox on desktop doesn't, so use Chrome or Edge — or the page is already installed, in which case the icon is replaced by an "Open in app" one.
On iOS the install option only lives in Safari. Chrome and Firefox on an iPhone or iPad cannot add an app to the home screen.
Do I have to install it to use Chalmsy?
Not at all. Everything works exactly the same in an ordinary browser tab. Installing is purely about how it opens — its own window and icon instead of another tab.
Will it update itself?
Yes. The installed app is the same application, so improvements arrive automatically. There is nothing to download and no version to keep an eye on.
Can I install it on more than one device?
As many as you like — the laptop on your desk, the phone in your pocket, a tablet you carry to clients. It's the same account and the same data on each.
How do I remove it?
Uninstall it like any other app: from the Start menu on Windows, Launchpad on a Mac, or by holding the icon on a phone or tablet. Nothing in your account is deleted by removing the installed shortcut.
Stay calmsy
Ready when you are.
Open Chalmsy in the browser, sign in, and let the butler settle into its own window on every device you work from.
