Why Chalmsy exists
The software we needed
was never for sale.
Chalmsy wasn't assembled in a product lab, and it isn't a research demo looking for a problem. It was built inside a working floral & events studio, because the software that studio needed — software that understood the business, spoke in its voice and wore its brand — didn't exist at any price.
The itch
Every tool wanted the business to fit the software.
The studio in question — Mela Certe, a floral design and event styling house working weddings, private clients and hotel contracts — had the problem every quoted, client-led business has. The work was beautiful; the paperwork was a second job. A proposal took an evening. The recipe maths lived in one place, the client thread in another, the invoice in a third, the receipts in a shoebox. And every tool on the market answered only a slice of it — a suite for the front office here, a calculator for the stems there, an accounting package somewhere else — each one wearing its own logo on pages the studio's clients would see, each one asking the business to bend to the software.
What the studio wanted was simple to say and impossible to buy: proposal software that was yours. Software that learned how you write, how you price, how your brand looks on paper — and then did the work that way, without being told twice.
The build
AI in the DNA — because the need demanded it.
By 2026 the technology finally existed to build that software — so it was built, with the most capable AI available, Claude, woven into every thread from the first line of code. Not AI as a bolt-on assistant in the corner of a form: AI as the architecture. The butler reads the enquiry, drafts the proposal in the studio's learned voice, prices it from the studio's own recipes and markups, reads the receipts, keeps the client record current from the inbox — and hands everything to a human before it goes anywhere.
The direction came from business needs, not from a lab's curiosity about what's possible. Every capability in the inventory exists because the studio hit the need first: voice learning because proposals were eating evenings; change orders because weddings change; hard-input pricing because a negotiated hotel fee must never be "helpfully" recalculated; receipt reading because the shoebox was real. Latest-and-greatest technology, employed the old-fashioned way — to do the work.
The receipts, literally
In production since April 2026.
Mela Certe became Chalmsy's first customer — a real tenant on the same multi-tenant platform every customer uses, with no special wiring. Its workspace opened on 18 April 2026 and drafted its first proposal the next day. These are its real, unrounded numbers as of August 2026:
Modest numbers, deliberately reported without inflation — one real studio's working year, not a vanity metric. The same day-in, day-out use is what surfaced and fixed hundreds of real-world details a lab would never have found.
Read those numbers for what they are: the first tenant's working year, not the platform's edge. Chalmsy is multi-tenant business-management software for any client business — proposals, pipeline, invoicing and books in one workspace — and the engine that priced wedding flowers was generalised to price fit-outs, retainers and change orders the same way. Mela Certe was the first workspace on the platform; it was never meant to be the only one.

Everything the studio needed turned out to be what every client business needs — the same four jobs in different clothes.
