Your plan covers your team, not a bill per head. Studio seats three people, Practice seats ten — one subscription between them. Most software in these trades charges per person on top, often $25 to $79 each, every month.

Prices shown in USD, excluding tax. Moving your data across is free on every plan, including during the trial — the white-glove line in the grid is the wider Atelier service on top of it. Any sales tax or VAT due is worked out at checkout from your own business address and shown before you confirm — UK and EU businesses can enter a VAT number and are billed under the reverse charge. Starter and Atelier don't change with the billing toggle. Atelier is by application, to keep the service genuinely white-glove. You sign in with a Google account — a Gmail or Google Workspace address. Email support is included on every plan.

Compare

Everything, tier by tier.

The same four jobs run through every plan — a bigger plan simply lets more of the butler's work happen on its own, and more hands share it.

On payments: invoices on every invoicing plan carry your own payment details or your own payment link, and clients pay you directly — Chalmsy never holds card details and never takes a cut of what you charge. In-product card payment collection is currently arranged as part of Atelier onboarding, set up with you through your own payment provider.

Young, and in production

Paying a young company is a fair worry.

So here is evidence rather than reassurance: Chalmsy has drafted, negotiated and invoiced a real studio's real work every day since April 2026, and its first tenant's unrounded numbers are public. And if you ever leave, your clients, documents and books walk out with you in plain exports — no exit negotiation.

Billing questions

The things people ask about the money.

Do I have to give you a card to start?

Yes — the card goes on file when you sign up, and nothing is charged during your 21 days. We email you before the first payment, and cancelling is one click in your settings. We take the card up front so the trial becomes a subscription without you having to do anything, and so nobody loses a workspace they were relying on because they missed an email.

Do I need a Google account?

Yes — Chalmsy runs on one. It's how your proposals and invoices go out from your own address rather than a no-reply robot, how your enquiry threads sit beside the booking, and why there's no Chalmsy password for anyone to steal. A Gmail or Google Workspace address is all it takes. If your business email lives on Microsoft or elsewhere, Chalmsy isn't for you yet — we'd rather say so now than after you've moved.

What happens when something goes wrong?

You email hello@chalmsy.com and a person who knows the software answers, within one business day on every plan. On Practice and Atelier we answer first and faster. There's no ticket queue to get lost in, no bot, and no tier where you're on your own.

What happens after my free trial?

Nothing disappears. Chalmsy keeps everything you've already made — clients, drafts, history — and simply asks you to choose a paid plan to keep sending proposals. Starter itself doesn't end; only the free period does, and it becomes $15/mo for the same one-user plan. We'll email you before anything is charged, and cancelling takes one click.

What happens if I hit my monthly proposal limit?

You'll see it coming before you hit it. Nothing you've already sent is affected, and the count resets at the start of your next month — or upgrade any time to raise the limit immediately.

What if my team grows past my plan's seats?

Move up a plan and everyone comes with you — Studio covers three people, Practice ten, and Atelier has no ceiling. The seats are what separate the plans, so you're never billed per person on top of the subscription the way most tools in these trades do it. If you're between sizes, tell us and we'll sort something sensible.

Can I change plan later?

Any time, in either direction. Upgrade and the new features appear straight away; downgrade and the change takes effect at your next billing date. We prorate the difference, so you never pay twice for the same days.

Is there a fee per proposal or per invoice?

No. Never a per-proposal fee, never a per-invoice fee, and never a cut of what you charge your clients. Your subscription is the whole price — send as many as your plan allows.

I only trade for part of the year — can I pause?

Yes. Downgrade to Starter through the quiet months — a single user, ten proposals a month, for the lowest price on the table — and move back up the moment the diary fills again. Your books, clients and bookings wait for you, untouched.

Can I get my data out if I leave?

Always. Your invoices and full bookkeeping history export to CSV, and the whole workspace — clients, bookings, proposals — exports as a JSON backup, whenever you like, whether you're staying or going. It's your business; Chalmsy just looks after it.

How does annual billing work?

Choose annual and you pay for nine months instead of twelve — the first three months are on us. It's charged once a year; the monthly figures above just show what that works out to per month.

What currency will I be charged in?

USD. Chalmsy's own pricing is simple by design — once your workspace is set up, the software itself automatically uses your business's real local currency and tax rules for your clients' proposals and invoices.

Will I be charged sales tax or VAT?

That depends on where your business is, not where we are. Checkout works it out from the business address you give us and shows you the figure before you confirm — there is never a surprise line on the invoice afterwards.

In the US, sales tax on software is charged according to your own state's rules, and only in the states where we're registered to collect it. In the UK and EU, business customers who enter a valid VAT number are billed under the reverse charge — we add no VAT and you account for it in your own return in the normal way. Either way you get a proper tax invoice you can hand to your accountant.

I'm already using something else. Is switching a nightmare?

It's the job we do for you, and it's free. Send us what you've got — a spreadsheet, an export from another tool, or a shoebox — and we bring your clients, past proposals, invoice history and books across, then hand you the keys. Your old system keeps running the whole time. Here's how the move works.
